Launch of Mozy UK

With the recent launch of Mozy in the UK and Ireland, Mozy hit the streets of London to find out if anyone would be willing to smash up his or her laptop on the spot for a brand new one. The catch: they had to smash it up right then, with no chance to save files or back them up.

We also asked 1,869 adults across the UK and Republic of Ireland about their personal backup adoption, usage, and benefits. Here’s what we discovered:

Hundreds of personal files are stored on the average home computer. People generally don’t back up their photos on a regular basis. Backup habits for music are even worse than backup habits for photos. While Brits valued their computer data at more than £10,000, the cost to protect that data is less than £5 per month. Personal computer files have high emotional value.
